Card #15 - Ellis Valentine

The Card
What a great card!  Ellis has that big smile with a bat resting on the shoulder, the batting cage is behind him in what certainly looks like old Shea Stadium.  The blue/pink of the hockey stick design somehow compliments the orange of the Mets' uniform.  This is spectacular!

Valentine had a wild, volatile career that was over at just 31 years old.  He was a star outfielder with a cannon arm in the late 1970's with the Montreal Expos, but injuries, trades, addiction issues, and spouting off in the press all contributed to an early exit.  To old school Montreal fans, though, he certainly holds a place in their hearts.

The Story
This was in the commons bin at my local card shop.

The Price

The Condition
Pretty good minus some slight wear and tear on the corners.

The Verdict
I really dig this card - it stands out in the binder page.
